Monthly Workshop
Trauma informed schools recognise that many children and young people have experienced trauma in their lives. As a result, these schools take a trauma informed approach to education, which means they are focused on the wellbeing of the whole child. This discovery workshop explores understanding and being aware of trauma as a whole school approach.

A trauma informed school is one that is able to support children and teenagers who suffer with trauma or mental health problems and whose troubled behaviour acts as a barrier to learning.
Developing whole school wellbeing can support children who have experienced trauma and ACE’s in a holistic way. This includes increasing access to support for students who are struggling to cope with trauma, as well as making sure that the school environment is safe and creates a sense of belonging and connection for all. By taking this approach, trauma-informed schools can help to break down the barriers to learning and provide all pupils with the best chance of success.
In this workshop Claire Harrison will explore practical strategies for developing whole school wellbeing that align with trauma informed approaches and reduce the impact of trauma on behaviour and support the prevention of mental health problems.
